Kayaking is the fastest-growing water sport in the US, with an estimated 32 percent increase in participation between 2016 and 2021. Many newcomers to the sport are embracing tandem kayaking. Enthusiasts often choose the wrong type of tandem kayak, however, as they fail to recognize the unique features of these specialized boats and how they differ from single kayaks.
The new guide highlights the merits and shortfalls of popular tandem kayaks and explains how to choose between them based on features and use cases. Kayaking Nation notes that tandem kayaks are harder to maneuver, store, and carry than single kayaks, and the new guide explains when to choose a tandem kayak over a single kayak.
The guide identifies the top tandem kayaks in each category: inflatables, most stable, best in mild rapids, performance-oriented, hybrid-construction, and mid-sized. A comparison table summarizes the top choices based on their length, width, weight, and capacity.
The guide also discusses choosing tandem kayaks for different activities and paddling styles by considering sit-on-top vs. closed cockpit kayaks, longer vs. shorter kayaks, different hull shapes, and outfitting. With the release of this guide, Kayaking Nation continues to serve the kayaking community through comprehensive and reliable guides that offer practical advice and valuable product insights.
Featured top-rated tandem kayak models include the Aquaglide Blackfoot 160, an inflatable that mimics the performance of hardshell; the Aqua Marina Steam 412 rigid kayak for mild rapids performance; and the Isle Switch SUP & Kayak - an SUP kayak hybrid.
A spokesperson for Kayaking Nation said: “Purchasing the right tandem kayak can be a daunting task, particularly for newcomers. There are multiple factors to consider in choosing the most suitable tandem kayak for your needs. By breaking down the key features and explaining what matters most, our comprehensive guide makes it easy to find the best tandem kayak for you and your partner to create lasting memories on the water.”

Sales of winter products surged at South Korean convenience stores as temperatures fell sharply this month, industry sources said Friday. According to retailers, sales of disposable hand warmers at GS25 convenience stores, operated by GS Retail Co., rose more than elevenfold in the first seven days of this month compared with the previous week. Sales of tights, worn to keep warm, increased by a similar margin. CU convenience stores, operated by BGF Retail Co., reported a 400 percent increase in sales of disposable hand warmers over the same period. "As cold weather sets in, sales of winter snacks and cold-weather gear are rising sharply," an industry official said.
SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won said Friday his business group will make efforts to build a new semiconductor cluster in the southwestern part of the country as quickly as possible to meet growing global demand. Chey made the remarks during a visit to Gwangju Air Base in the southwestern Jeonnam-Gwangju region, where SK hynix Inc. has proposed building a new chip cluster. "Once the conditions are met, we plan to build (the new cluster) as quickly as possible," Chey said. "Demand for chips is growing rapidly, and the current situation requires us to accelerate the pace of supply to keep up with demand," he added. The chairman said the group still needs to determine when construction will begin but stressed that it intends to break ground as soon as possible. Chey noted that demand for chips is expected to grow significantly, adding that the proposed cluster will be around two-thirds the size of the one currently under construction in Yongin, just south of Seoul. It marked Chey's first visit to the region since the conglomerate unveiled its building plan in June. Earlier in the year, SK hynix
