Annual industry ranking gains new importance as the pandemic changes the way businesses work.

DALLAS - January 14, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

For six years in a row, Working Solutions, a leader in on-demand contact center solutions, continues to rank in the upper tier on FlexJobs' Top 100 Companies to Watch for Remote Jobs—placing fourth on the 2021 list.

Kim Houlne, Working Solutions chief executive and founder, welcomed the news, saying: "The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic brought new importance to the remote-work business model and its advantages.

"We've worked with 100,000s of on-demand agents since our founding in 1996, mastering how to recruit, educate and operate effective, virtual workforces for clients."

The 2021 list is based on an analysis of more than 57,000 companies and their remote job posting histories in the FlexJobs database between Jan. 1, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2020. A remote job is defined as a professional-level position that enables someone to work from home.

Working Solutions, a Dallas-based, customer-care company—with service agents in the United States and Canada—also placed #5 in 2020, again #5 in 2019, #10 in 2018, #7 in 2017 and #9 in 2016 in the rankings.

Said Sara Sutton, founder and CEO of FlexJobs: "The coronavirus pandemic has obviously permanently reshaped the workplace, and how both companies and workers understand the exciting ways that remote work can improve not only the bottom-line aspects of business but also how it can bring long-lasting benefits to the overall workforce as well."

This year, Working Solutions ranks high among on-demand providers in the consumer services, retail, travel and healthcare industries. The company understands client requirements for a fluid workforce. Its virtual, operating model ramps up for business cycles or unforeseen events, such as the pandemic, and scales down as needed.

Singapore’s AI dividend will depend on what happens after the pilot phase

Singapore’s early bet on artificial intelligence could give its economy a modest but meaningful lift as population ageing starts to bite. But the real test will not be how many companies say they use AI. It will be whether they can rebuild work around it. The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) said in its annual […] The post Singapore’s AI dividend will depend on what happens after the pilot phase appeared first on e27.

Trump’s 'self-policing' AI accord faces skepticism

The signing of an AI accord by President Trump and tech leaders has done little to quell concerns over the lack of guardrails surrounding artificial intelligence.  While Trump says industry officials can self-police, critics say more is needed to make sure AI development doesn’t get out of hand, even as some described it as a...

China’s AI compute ambitions demand innovation

China has set a five-year goal for the expansion of intelligent computing capacity to drive artificial intelligence (AI) that calls for a more than fourfold increase on what was in place at the end of June this year. To reach the 2030 target while being blocked by the United States from importing the most advanced Western-made AI chips will require innovation, adaptation and the application and coordination of vast resources. Judging by the 177 per cent increase in capacity achieved in the year...

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries wins contract for 500-MW offshore substation in Taean

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has signed a contract to build an offshore substation for a wind farm in waters off Taean, South Chungcheong Province, as it expands its presence in the offshore wind market. The company announced on Friday that it recently signed a contract with Taean Wind Power to carry out the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning of an offshore substation for the wind farm. Taean Wind Power is a joint venture between Singapore-based renewable energy company Vena Energy, Danish investment and development firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and state-run Korea Western Power. An offshore substation is a key facility that transmits electricity generated by turbines at an offshore wind farm to shore. The offshore substation to be built in Taean will step up the voltage of electricity generated by a 500-megawatt wind farm before transmitting the power to shore. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries secured the project through a series of agreements, signing a front-end engineering design contract in March, followed by a preferred supplier agreement

99.3% of soybeans imported from US test positive for genetic modification

Genetically modified organism (GMO) components were detected in 99.3 percent of U.S. soybean import cases tested over the past decade, trade data showed Friday, raising calls for Korea to diversify its soybean import sources. According to Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. data submitted to Rep. Song Ok-joo of the Democratic Party of Korea, Korea imported 1.6 million tons of U.S. soybeans between 2017 and September 2026, accounting for 91.5 percent of its total soybean imports during the period. GMO components were detected in 399 of 402 U.S. soybean import cases, or 99.3 percent. Canadian soybeans were imported in 45 shipments totaling 29,469 tons, with GMO components detected in 57.8 percent of the cases. In contrast, no GMO components were detected in soybeans imported from China or Russia. Chinese soybeans totaled 112,124 tons in 18 shipments, accounting for 6.4 percent of total imports, while Russian soybeans totaled 7,870 tons across five shipments. The data came amid recent controversies over GMO detection in soybean-based foods such as tofu, soy milk and fermented soybean pa

Dunamu, the operator of Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, said Friday that it expanded its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered market analytics platform with real-time tools that summarize broad market trends and pinpoint the reasons behind price movements for individual digital assets. Upbit Data Lab, launched in April 2025, is the exchange's analytics platform offering crypto indexes, sector data and blockchain analysis. The new "AI Market Report" is a video of 90 seconds or less that draws on the Upbit composite index, major asset prices, top gainers and losers, and market sentiment indicators, with AI selecting key issues based on price moves and market impact. It is released at 10 a.m. on weekdays on Upbit Data Lab and Upbit's official YouTube channel. A second new service, "Uptrace," tracks price data and related news for individual assets to identify the main factors behind price changes.
