Facility to Provide Vital Inpatient Psychiatric Care for Greater Dallas Region

DALLAS - Aug. 22, 2022 - PRLog -- Voyages Behavioral Health ("Voyages" - an affiliate of PAM Health) is pleased to announce the future opening of Voyages Behavioral Health of Dallas, a state-of-the-art behavioral health hospital. Voyages Behavioral Health of Dallas will be located at 3320 Live Oak, Dallas, TX, and is being developed by Dallas-based Prevarian Companies.

The Dallas location will help meet the tremendous need for inpatient psychiatric care in the region. In recent years, the number of psychiatric beds in Dallas has declined, although demand has not. According to Mental Health America (MHA) Dallas's report, "The 2022 State of Mental Health in America," Texas ranked at the bottom of the states in relation to access to mental healthcare in 2020 and 2021. In addition, in MHA's August 2021 report, "The Severe Depression and COVID-19:  Communities in Need Across the U.S.," Dallas County was ranked 10th in severe depression among large counties and 6th in suicidal ideation.

Recognizing the tremendous need for behavioral health services, PAM Health established Voyages Behavioral Health to offer specialized care to this important patient population. "PAM Health's expansion into behavioral health is an exciting endeavor that aligns with our mission and vision," says Kristen Smith, PAM Health's Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer. "With this new hospital, Voyages Behavioral Health of Dallas will address patients' comprehensive needs and help them achieve sustainable, long-term health and wellness, while ultimately reducing the cost of care."

Once open, Voyages Behavioral Health of Dallas will feature 72 patient beds with specialized programs. Offerings will include services for medically complex patients aged 18 years and older, geriatric, and adolescent care explains Andrew Hardin, SVP and COO of Voyages. "Our multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, internists, clinicians, and other specialists will provide comprehensive and coordinated short-term care tailored to each patient's needs," he says. "The main care components include diagnostic behavioral health evaluation, solution-focused treatment, behavioral strategies with inpatient and partial hospitalization, medication evaluation and management, intensive outpatient programs, and aftercare planning."

The new Behavioral Health Hospital is located adjacent to the Baylor Scott & White University Medical Center and offers exceptional views of downtown Dallas. Guide Architecture's Dallas office designed the Hospital. Allan Brown, Partner at the Prevarian Companies, explains, "working with the Voyages team has enabled the adaptive reuse of an existing building and has resulted in an exceptional environment for patient care."

Singapore’s AI dividend will depend on what happens after the pilot phase

Singapore’s early bet on artificial intelligence could give its economy a modest but meaningful lift as population ageing starts to bite. But the real test will not be how many companies say they use AI. It will be whether they can rebuild work around it. The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) said in its annual […] The post Singapore’s AI dividend will depend on what happens after the pilot phase appeared first on e27.

Ecosystem Roundup: MoneyHero’s activist wants a sale, but Richard Li holds the votes

Jonathan Honig, who owns about 9% of MoneyHero’s Class A shares, wants the Nasdaq-listed comparison platform sold. His open letter asks the board to hire an independent adviser and explore a sale before a 5 October deadline. Trump’s 'self-policing' AI accord faces skepticism

The signing of an AI accord by President Trump and tech leaders has done little to quell concerns over the lack of guardrails surrounding artificial intelligence.  While Trump says industry officials can self-police, critics say more is needed to make sure AI development doesn’t get out of hand, even as some described it as a...

China’s AI compute ambitions demand innovation

China has set a five-year goal for the expansion of intelligent computing capacity to drive artificial intelligence (AI) that calls for a more than fourfold increase on what was in place at the end of June this year. To reach the 2030 target while being blocked by the United States from importing the most advanced Western-made AI chips will require innovation, adaptation and the application and coordination of vast resources. Judging by the 177 per cent increase in capacity achieved in the year...

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries wins contract for 500-MW offshore substation in Taean

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has signed a contract to build an offshore substation for a wind farm in waters off Taean, South Chungcheong Province, as it expands its presence in the offshore wind market. The company announced on Friday that it recently signed a contract with Taean Wind Power to carry out the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning of an offshore substation for the wind farm. Taean Wind Power is a joint venture between Singapore-based renewable energy company Vena Energy, Danish investment and development firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and state-run Korea Western Power. An offshore substation is a key facility that transmits electricity generated by turbines at an offshore wind farm to shore. The offshore substation to be built in Taean will step up the voltage of electricity generated by a 500-megawatt wind farm before transmitting the power to shore. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries secured the project through a series of agreements, signing a front-end engineering design contract in March, followed by a preferred supplier agreement

99.3% of soybeans imported from US test positive for genetic modification

Genetically modified organism (GMO) components were detected in 99.3 percent of U.S. soybean import cases tested over the past decade, trade data showed Friday, raising calls for Korea to diversify its soybean import sources. According to Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. data submitted to Rep. Song Ok-joo of the Democratic Party of Korea, Korea imported 1.6 million tons of U.S. soybeans between 2017 and September 2026, accounting for 91.5 percent of its total soybean imports during the period. GMO components were detected in 399 of 402 U.S. soybean import cases, or 99.3 percent. Canadian soybeans were imported in 45 shipments totaling 29,469 tons, with GMO components detected in 57.8 percent of the cases. In contrast, no GMO components were detected in soybeans imported from China or Russia. Chinese soybeans totaled 112,124 tons in 18 shipments, accounting for 6.4 percent of total imports, while Russian soybeans totaled 7,870 tons across five shipments. The data came amid recent controversies over GMO detection in soybean-based foods such as tofu, soy milk and fermented soybean pa

Dunamu, the operator of Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, said Friday that it expanded its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered market analytics platform with real-time tools that summarize broad market trends and pinpoint the reasons behind price movements for individual digital assets. The new "AI Market Report" is a video of 90 seconds or less that draws on the Upbit composite index, major asset prices, top gainers and losers, and market sentiment indicators, with AI selecting key issues based on price moves and market impact. It is released at 10 a.m. on weekdays on Upbit Data Lab and Upbit's official YouTube channel. A second new service, "Uptrace," tracks price data and related news for individual assets to identify the main factors behind price changes.
