Space agency to finalize design of 1st navigation satellite for 2029 launch

Korea will begin production of its first satellite for the Korean Positioning System (KPS) ahead of a planned launch in September 2029, the space agency said Monday. The Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) said it will hold a critical design review with related ministries and research institutions for the KPS No. 1 satellite, marking the final review before production of the flight model begins. The KPS is Korea's planned satellite navigation system designed to provide high-precision positioning, navigation and timing services over the Korean Peninsula and surrounding areas. The government plans to invest 3.72 trillion won ($2.73 billion) in the project over 14 years from 2022. Despite the delay, KASA plans to maintain its goal of deploying all eight KPS satellites by 2035.

BOK faces scrutiny over cybersecurity after staff data breach

The Bank of Korea (BOK) is facing scrutiny over its cybersecurity after the personal information of 186 employees was leaked in a hacking incident earlier this year, according to central bank's data submitted to Rep. Lee Jong-wook of the main opposition People Power Party (PPP), Monday. The breach occurred between May and June after hackers gained access to a GitHub system used by a contractor for the BOK's online training program. The leaked information included employees' names, email addresses, phone numbers, positions, duties and passwords. "We were notified by the contractor of the breach on June 11 and informed the affected employees the following day. We also reported the incident to the Personal Information Protection Commission," a BOK official said. The PPP lawmaker said the central bank should not take the leak of employees' personal information or repeated disruptions to its websites lightly. "As the central bank, the BOK should thoroughly assess the causes of the repeated incidents, review its overall security system and establish measures to prevent them from happening again

Igloo narrows FY2025 loss as embedded insurance bet edges closer to breakeven

For years, Southeast Asia’s insurtech promise has rested on a simple idea: insurance should be bought where people already spend, borrow, shop, travel or top up their phones. The harder part has been turning that distribution advantage into a business that can scale without burning ever larger amounts of capital. Singapore-headquartered Igloo is now trying […] The post Igloo narrows FY2025 loss as embedded insurance bet edges closer to breakeven appeared first on e27.

Bitcoin trades around US$84,200 to US$84,550 on Monday, September 28, 2026. It is not exploding higher today. Most sources show a modest move, slightly up or down 0.2 per cent to 0.5 per cent, as it consolidates after last week’s sharp rally. The bigger picture is that Bitcoin has rebounded strongly from mid-September lows near […] The post Bitcoin dominance at 58.5% and the 55% line that still blocks altseason appeared first on e27.

The credential trap: Why outsiders are winning in signal intelligence

The information advantage has a shelf life measured in hours, not years. Yet most people still get their signals third-hand—after hedge funds, after Bloomberg terminals, after institutional analysts have already moved. This gap is not a market inefficiency anymore. It is a design choice. In 2026, the democratisation of market data is reshaping who wins. […] The post The credential trap: Why outsiders are winning in signal intelligence appeared first on e27.

Your startup may be competing with a VC’s existing portfolio

Founders raising a venture round tend to watch other startups. Who has just closed? Who is talking to the same funds? Who is setting the price for the next deal? The fund across the table has another comparison to make. At portfolio level, it also has to weigh opening new positions against preserving capital for […] The post Your startup may be competing with a VC’s existing portfolio appeared first on e27.

One-person company: Why Southeast Asia’s next unicorn may look nothing like Grab

For almost two decades, the startup creation playbook for Southeast Asia has been largely predictable: build a super app, raise hundreds of millions of dollars, staff thousands of employees, operate in dozens of markets and scale to dominate the region. Firms like Grab, Sea Group and GoTo have since been synonymous with the region’s ability […] The post One-person company: Why Southeast Asia’s next unicorn may look nothing like Grab appeared first on e27.

SIA has scaled AI. Aviation must now govern the point of action

Singapore Airlines’ expanding artificial intelligence (AI) portfolio shows that adoption is no longer the main issue. The harder question is what an AI system should be permitted to do.
