Mission Prep Publishes Early Schizophrenia Indications For Parents Of Teenagers

Sep 22, 2026

Mission Prep published a new guide revealing early schizophrenia signs in teens, citing research on youth psychosis timelines while offering families practical steps to recognize the warning signs early.

San Juan Capistrano, United States, September 22, 2026 /PressCable/ -- Mission Prep’s newly published guide focuses on early schizophrenia signs in teens, offering families a selection of practical tools to recognize warning signs before a crisis develops. As broader trends suggest that youth psychosis and other related conditions are being diagnosed more frequently, the document notably shares the requisite insights for parents to initiate professional assessments.

In fact, the guide's release comes amid a reported shift in the prevalence of psychosis diagnoses for young people overall. Research published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal found that confirmations of psychotic disorders among 14- to 20-year-olds rose 60% between 1997 and 2023 - even as rates among older adults held steady or declined.

Such a divergence implies something specific to younger generations - and for parents who suspect schizophrenia or a similar condition, Mission Prep’s Dr. Meghan Marcum outlines the telltale signs that tend to present in adolescents:

“The early signs of schizophrenia in teens include social withdrawal, declining school performance, disorganized thinking, flat or inappropriate emotions, neglected hygiene, and unusual perceptual experiences. These shifts often appear two to four years before a first psychotic episode, making them easy to miss… but critical to catch."

Again stressing the importance of early detection, Dr. Marcum goes on to encourage honest conversations with teens to ascertain their state of mind. As the company's Chief Psychologist, she also points families toward professional evaluation - framing early action as a wholly practical response.

The stakes have grown as the age of diagnosis falls. According to the aforementioned CMAJ research, the average age at diagnosis dropped from about 25 for people born in the late 1970s to just over 23 for those born in the early 1990s. These findings also discovered that those born between 2000 and 2004 showed a 70% higher incidence of schizophrenia than those born a generation earlier.

As such, parents can no longer treat psychosis as strictly an adult-onset concern, says Dr. Marcum, who cites the readiness of Mission Prep and similar centers around the US to help support embattled adolescents.

'AI artists' perform improvised jazz at Jarasum Jazz Festival

Artificial intelligence (AI) models developed by a research team led by Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) professor Nam Ju-han made their debut at one of Korea’s leading jazz festivals, performing improvised jazz alongside human artists. According to the university Friday, the team showcased human-AI music collaboration technology that analyzes the flow of human performances in real time, allowing AI to take over performances or generate improvised accompaniment, during the 23rd Jarasum Jazz Festival, held in Gapyeong County, Gyeonggi Province, from Oct. 9 to 11. A total of 12 human jazz artists participated in the event, collaborating with AI in 26 pieces across 12 performances. The technology is different from existing music AI services as it enables collaboration with human musicians in jazz, a genre characterized by improvisation. Jazz musicians often change the tempo or create new melodies based on how they feel in the moment. Because the same piece can be performed differently each time, musicians must listen to one another and adjust their playing accord

Why Indonesian fintech’s ASEAN expansion cost more than anyone priced in

Indonesian fintech expansion into ASEAN looks different in 2026 than it did when Investree opened its Thailand operations in 2018 and its Philippines unit shortly after. The cohort of Indonesian platforms that pushed beyond the domestic market between 2018 and 2022 (Investree, Modalku, several payment players, a handful of insurtechs) encountered a structural cost that […] The post Why Indonesian fintech’s ASEAN expansion cost more than anyone priced in appeared first on e27.

[INTERVIEW] Alaska Airlines eyes Asia expansion as Korea route gains traction

SEATTLE — Alaska Airlines is looking to expand its presence in Asia as its Incheon-Seattle route gains traction, with Korea emerging as a key market in the U.S. carrier’s expanding international network. The airline recorded load factors of 82 percent in June, 84 percent in July and 79 percent in August on the route, marking a strong start in its first full year of operations. The figures exceeded expectations for a new route, which typically takes about three years to mature as the airline adjusts schedules and connections to meet passenger demand. "Those are really good, strong load factors for the first year of a new route," Shane Tackett, president and chief financial officer of Alaska Airlines, said in an interview with The Korea Times on Sept. 29. He added that one month ranked among Alaska's best-performing international routes financially before fuel prices increased significantly. The airline sees further opportunities to attract passengers from Korea, where its brand remains relatively unfamiliar. Tackett said Alaska Airlines aims to raise awareness of its services and enco
