Three thrilling mystery novels invite readers into stories of hidden conspiracies, dangerous secrets, survival and the extraordinary courage of ordinary people determined to uncover the truth

Chattanooga, Tennessee Oct 1, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Mystery readers looking for compelling stories featuring characters, complex secrets and high-stakes suspense have three winning novels to add to their must-read list: Spiral, Whooten State Forest Mystery: Ties That Bind, and Escaping Toward Freedom.

These page-turning mysteries published by Chistell Publishing (www.chistell.com) span different time periods and uncommon circumstances. Each places ordinary people in extraordinary danger and asks what happens when buried secrets refuse to remain hidden.

"These stories are about more than solving mysteries," says author Denise Turney. "They are about people confronting secrets, protecting one another, surviving circumstances they never expected, and finding the courage to keep searching for the truth when everything seems to be working against them."

Spiral: A Historical Mystery Where the Dead Have Stories to Tell

Set in Memphis, Tennessee, during the 1940s, Spiral begins with the disappearance of a young girl. What initially appears to be a single missing child case soon points toward a disturbing pattern of disappearances that powerful people have worked for years to conceal.

At the center of the investigation is an extraordinary girl with a rare and unsettling gift: the ability to communicate with the dead.

As whispers from the past begin exposing connections among Memphis's most influential families, the search for one missing girl becomes a race to uncover a conspiracy with far more victims than anyone imagined. Blending historical suspense with supernatural mystery, Spiral offers shocking revelations, unforgettable characters and twists that continue long after the final page.

Whooten State Forest Mystery: Ties That Bind: When Escape Becomes Impossible

Petula knows something is wrong. A mysterious stranger has begun appearing around her RV, and what others dismiss as her overactive imagination quickly becomes a terrifying game of cat and mouse.

Determined to discover what is happening, Petula begins investigating what's haunting her. She learns that real danger may be much closer than she realized as a storm traps her inside Whooten State Forest.

Her RV fails. Escape routes disappear, and Petula realizes someone is stalking her. Worse, someone knows her secrets and may have been waiting for her to arrive at the state forest.

Whooten State Forest Mystery: Ties That Bind delivers relentless suspense, unexpected revelations and twists that keep readers questioning who can be trusted.

Escaping Toward Freedom: Four Girls, One Dangerous Secret

Retired Navy specialist, Clarissa, heads to a remote mountain cabin hoping to find the solitude necessary to complete the manuscript that could define her career. But that's not what happens. Instead, four terrified girls emerge from the wilderness.

Exhausted and frightened, the girls cannot, or will not, tell Clarissa what has happened to them. But when danger closes in, Clarissa discovers that the girls are at the center of something much darker than she had initially suspected.

Someone is hunting the girls. Someone has the power to make people vanish without a trace.

Drawing on instincts developed during her Navy career, Clarissa must protect the girls while navigating a deadly conspiracy in which every decision carries consequences. With the hunters closing in, she must determine whom she can trust, and how far she is willing to go to save four vulnerable young lives.

These three novels provide champions of literature and media outlets with compelling literary content to absorb and share. Media managers can introduce these mystery novels to their audiences who love reading fiction and who are seeking new titles by featuring the books in entertainment, culture, community and book-review sections and by conducting author interviews. S. Korea's Nuri space rocket lifts off from Naro Space Center

South Korea launched its homegrown Nuri rocket Wednesday on its fifth flight to place 15 satellites into orbit, including five that will form part of the country's first domestically launched microsatellite constellation. The 200-ton Nuri blasted off from the Naro Space Center in Goheung, about 400 kilometers southwest of Seoul, at 12:25 p.m. The payload consists of five New-space Earth Observation Satellite Constellation for National Safety (NEONSAT) microsatellites and 10 CubeSats. Nuri's first and second stages will separate about 123 and 268 seconds after liftoff, respectively, with satellite deployment beginning between 810 and 960 seconds at an altitude of around 575 kilometers. The five NEONSATs, Nos. 2 through 6, will be deployed at intervals of 35 to 40 seconds, with Nuri's upper stage rotating by about 45 degrees between each separation to prevent collisions. The 10 CubeSats will then be deployed two at a time at 10-second intervals. After releasing all 15 satellites, Nuri will perform a collision-avoidance maneuver and vent its remaining fuel, completing its flight about 20 min

The new engineering bottleneck isn’t writing code, it’s trusting it

For the past two years, the story engineering teams told about AI was simple: it writes code faster, so teams ship faster. That story is only half true. Code does get written faster. But Google’s 2025 DORA report, based on analysis of over 1,100 open-ended responses from Google software engineers, found that higher AI adoption […] The post The new engineering bottleneck isn’t writing code, it’s trusting it appeared first on e27.

Granite Asia, Google AI Futures Fund team up to back Asia’s AI founders

Asia’s AI founders are increasingly facing a split-screen reality. Investor interest is high, but building at the frontier of artificial intelligence still requires more than a seed cheque. Startups need access to large models, cloud infrastructure, technical feedback, distribution channels and patient capital, all while competing with better-funded peers in the US and China. Granite […] The post Granite Asia, Google AI Futures Fund team up to back Asia’s AI founders appeared first on e27.

Europe’s trade truce with America has not restored trust in American business

For much of the past three decades, American companies operating overseas benefited from a powerful assumption: that despite periodic political turbulence at home, the United States (US) remained a predictable and broadly reliable commercial partner. That assumption has been badly tested. Yet the latest phase of the US-European relationship is more complicated than a simple […] The post Europe’s trade truce with America has not restored trust in American business appeared first on e27.

Nuri rocket set for 5th launch to place 15 satellites into orbit

Korea's homegrown Nuri rocket is set for its fifth launch Wednesday, carrying 15 satellites, including five that will form part of the country's first domestically launched microsatellite constellation. The three-stage rocket is scheduled to lift off from the Naro Space Center in Goheung, about 400 kilometers south of Seoul, at 12:25 p.m., Oh Tae-seok, administrator of the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA), said. Oh said the rocket is technically ready for launch, with weather and space conditions also favorable and no concerns over potential collisions with space objects, allowing the launch to proceed as scheduled. The payload consists of five New-space Earth Observation Satellite Constellation for National Safety (NEONSAT) microsatellites and 10 CubeSats. About four hours before liftoff, the launch team will begin filling the three-stage rocket with kerosene fuel and liquid oxygen oxidizer after completing system checks. Nuri's first and second stages will separate about 123 and 268 seconds after liftoff, respectively, with satellite deployment beginning between 810 and 960 seconds

AI could turn concierge medicine into the future interface to healthcare

Concierge medicine is expensive for a simple reason: physician attention is scarce. A typical primary-care doctor may be responsible for 2,000 or more patients, while concierge practices generally restrict panels to 400 or fewer to 600. Patients pay annual retainers ranging from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands for longer appointments and faster […] The post AI could turn concierge medicine into the future interface to healthcare appeared first on e27.

Why Southeast Asia is underbuilt in the categories that produce its most durable companies

Ask anyone to name Southeast Asia’s most successful startups and you will hear the same names. Grab. Sea. GoTo. Each is a consumer company. Each won by reaching enormous numbers of users, burning enormous amounts of capital, and surviving long enough to consolidate a market. This is the story the region tells about itself.
