Global Startups Accelerator, a Toronto-based non-profit accelerator supporting technology companies from pre-seed to growth stage, is celebrating its 10th anniversary year with two milestone events: a recently completed 15-session Masterclass Series and an upcoming End of the Year Gala on December 17, 2026.
The anniversary year closes with the End of the Year Gala on December 17, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM in downtown Toronto, presented by Scotiabank with support from the City of Toronto, JDL Immigration, and Dentons. The evening features three award presentations: the Visionary Award, Startup of the Year, and Mentor of the Year along with a startup sales pitch competition and cocktail networking. Registration is open at lu.ma/globalstartups.
“After 10 years, we wanted to celebrate with the founders and partners who are the core of a business that was not intended to grow this big at the beginning,” said Miryam Lazarte, CEO of Global Startups. “We thank FINMETRIX, Praxxi Inc., Actuality, TEC Canada, STG International, File & Claim, Marks & Clerk, Emergex, Megafone, Deschool, TMX Newsfile, GubolinCo, Beyond the Box, CertifyGRC, and Smart Goose Academy for putting together these masterclasses. Every single one of you made a significant effort to make this mark meaningful. To our startups and community, thank you for showing up and for being engaged. We are looking forward to another 10 years and to exciting announcements for 2027.”
A Decade of Connecting Founders to the Canadian Market
The 10-year milestone marks a sustained period of operation as a non-profit accelerator focused on capital access, sales growth, and Canadian market entry. Global Startups’ community now includes founders from more than 50 countries, and the Masterclass Series drew on that network by assembling 15 distinct organizations to contribute practical sessions over three days, all provided free of charge.
Gala Open to Founders, Operators, and Partners
The December 17 Gala brings together founders, operators, and ecosystem partners to recognize outstanding contributions from the Global Startups community during the anniversary year. The awards, pitch competition, and networking program are designed to highlight the work of individual founders, startups, and mentors who have shaped the accelerator’s first decade.
Founders, operators, and partners in Ontario and beyond can register to attend at lu.ma/globalstartups. For founder stories and ecosystem updates, visit Global Startups Insights.

I’ve worked a lot with the Microsoft stack, and for a long time Excel was its staple. It gave Microsoft a foothold inside companies. Once a company ran its budgets, forecasts and operations in Excel, Microsoft could sell a lot of other products around it. It became embedded in the organisation. There’s a fundamental question that most leaders are avoiding right now, not because it’s too hard, but because the answer is uncomfortable. If you don’t understand where scarcity lives in the current economy, and you keep focusing on supplying more into markets with less demand or that are already overcrowded, you’ve forgotten Economics 101. Scarcity […] The post Are you leading with people? Or are you leading with tech? appeared first on e27.

Every mature startup ecosystem has eventually faced a period the venture community refers to, after the fact and usually with discomfort, as its accountability phase. The United States went through one in the early 2000s, after Enron, WorldCom, and the broader dot-com governance cleanup. China went through one in the late 2010s, when Luckin Coffee […] The post ASEAN’s startup ecosystem is entering its accountability phase appeared first on e27.
