A look back at September: a $280 million contract pipeline, the firm's new Air Rights Intelligence platform, and the policy shifts that will shape NYC land values in October and beyond.
New York, NY, United States, October 2, 2026 -- BK Real Estate Advisors (BKREA), the seller-only, exclusive-only New York City investment sales firm led by Bob Knakal, today closed out the month with its September 2026 review in the Development Site Monthly. As the firm heads into October, it has closed 10 transactions totaling more than $300 million since July 1, nearly one-third of its 2026 dollar volume in roughly two months.
Entering the fourth quarter, BKREA has closed 34 transactions year to date totaling $874.75 million and 2.825 million square feet. With 11 more deals under contract worth about $280 million, the firm's 2026 closed volume is on track to exceed $1.15 billion.

September in review: buyers are active and well-positioned properties are trading
September capped a busy summer that builds on a strong 2025, when BKREA closed 43 transactions totaling approximately $1.78 billion. The firm says the pace confirms that capital is available and buyers are bidding on well-positioned assets. BKREA currently holds 71 exclusive listings totaling more than $3 billion, including over $3 billion in land and air rights assignments.
A new intelligence layer for the air rights market
BKREA has launched NYC Air Rights Intelligence, a proprietary dashboard tracking hundreds of transferable development rights (TDR) transactions across New York City, giving property owners access to comps by neighborhood, TDR type, deal size and price per square foot. In addition to former inclusionary housing certificates (now known as UAP) and traditional neighboring TDRs, BKREA's Air Rights Marketplace is actively marketing landmark TDRs at 130 Bowery (±45,000 SF), 652 Avenue of the Americas (±105,000 SF), 15 West 38th Street (±22,876 SF) and others.
"Every air rights transaction carries its own mechanics, whether it's a landmark transfer, a ZLDA, inclusionary certificates, or a special district, and pricing has never really reflected that nuance," said Genessy Jaramillo, Managing Director at BKREA. "Air Rights Intelligence gives us hard data to underwrite each deal, instead of going in without the tools to back it up, and that is a big part of why BKREA is doing more air rights deals than anyone else in the market."
Policy changes to watch heading into October
Several regulatory shifts tracked through September will shape the city's land market this fall:

Singapore’s early bet on artificial intelligence could give its economy a modest but meaningful lift as population ageing starts to bite. But the real test will not be how many companies say they use AI. It will be whether they can rebuild work around it. Jonathan Honig, who owns about 9% of MoneyHero’s Class A shares, wants the Nasdaq-listed comparison platform sold. His open letter asks the board to hire an independent adviser and explore a sale before a 5 October deadline. The signing of an AI accord by President Trump and tech leaders has done little to quell concerns over the lack of guardrails surrounding artificial intelligence. While Trump says industry officials can self-police, critics say more is needed to make sure AI development doesn’t get out of hand, even as some described it as a...
China has set a five-year goal for the expansion of intelligent computing capacity to drive artificial intelligence (AI) that calls for a more than fourfold increase on what was in place at the end of June this year. To reach the 2030 target while being blocked by the United States from importing the most advanced Western-made AI chips will require innovation, adaptation and the application and coordination of vast resources. Judging by the 177 per cent increase in capacity achieved in the year...
Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp. posted record U.S. sales for September, driven by strong demand for sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and hybrid models, the Hyundai Motor Group affiliates said Friday. Hyundai Motor America sold 77,439 vehicles last month, up 9 percent from a year earlier, marking its highest-ever September sales. Sales of the Palisade SUV surged 52 percent on-year, while the Sonata, Tucson and Santa Fe also posted double-digit growth. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has signed a contract to build an offshore substation for a wind farm in waters off Taean, South Chungcheong Province, as it expands its presence in the offshore wind market. The company announced on Friday that it recently signed a contract with Taean Wind Power to carry out the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning of an offshore substation for the wind farm. Taean Wind Power is a joint venture between Singapore-based renewable energy company Vena Energy, Danish investment and development firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and state-run Korea Western Power. An offshore substation is a key facility that transmits electricity generated by turbines at an offshore wind farm to shore. The offshore substation to be built in Taean will step up the voltage of electricity generated by a 500-megawatt wind farm before transmitting the power to shore. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries secured the project through a series of agreements, signing a front-end engineering design contract in March, followed by a preferred supplier agreement
Genetically modified organism (GMO) components were detected in 99.3 percent of U.S. soybean import cases tested over the past decade, trade data showed Friday, raising calls for Korea to diversify its soybean import sources. According to Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. data submitted to Rep. Song Ok-joo of the Democratic Party of Korea, Korea imported 1.6 million tons of U.S. soybeans between 2017 and September 2026, accounting for 91.5 percent of its total soybean imports during the period. GMO components were detected in 399 of 402 U.S. soybean import cases, or 99.3 percent. Canadian soybeans were imported in 45 shipments totaling 29,469 tons, with GMO components detected in 57.8 percent of the cases. In contrast, no GMO components were detected in soybeans imported from China or Russia. Chinese soybeans totaled 112,124 tons in 18 shipments, accounting for 6.4 percent of total imports, while Russian soybeans totaled 7,870 tons across five shipments. The data came amid recent controversies over GMO detection in soybean-based foods such as tofu, soy milk and fermented soybean pa
Dunamu, the operator of Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, said Friday that it expanded its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered market analytics platform with real-time tools that summarize broad market trends and pinpoint the reasons behind price movements for individual digital assets. Upbit Data Lab, launched in April 2025, is the exchange's analytics platform offering crypto indexes, sector data and blockchain analysis. The new "AI Market Report" is a video of 90 seconds or less that draws on the Upbit composite index, major asset prices, top gainers and losers, and market sentiment indicators, with AI selecting key issues based on price moves and market impact. It is released at 10 a.m. on weekdays on Upbit Data Lab and Upbit's official YouTube channel. A second new service, "Uptrace," tracks price data and related news for individual assets to identify the main factors behind price changes. Users can click diamond-shaped icons on an asset's chart to see the AI analysis and related news for that point in time. Dunamu also reorganized its existing "AI News Briefing" in
