According to Stratistics MRC, the Global Bioplastics & Biopolymers market is expected to grow from $3.12 billion in 2015 to reach $7.66 billion by 2022 with a CAGR of 13.7%. Increased consciousness and strict government regulations towards environment policies are favoring the market growth. In addition, volatility in crude oil prices is driving the manufacturers to adopt bioplastics & biopolymers as a substitute to raw material, which is the key factor fueling the market growth. On the other hand, performance issues and high price of bioplastics are limiting the market growth.

In 2015, Bio-PET segment commands the global bioplastics & biopolymers market and is projected to continue its domination over the forecast period. It is attributed to its similar properties of petroleum based PET, which is appropriate for all applications. The Packaging sector leads the market globally with the biggest market share and is expected to grow with a high CAGR during the forecast period. It is driven by booming market for eco-friendly packaging. Europe is anticipated to hold the largest share in global market due to its huge distribution network of bioplastics & biopolymers.

POSCO union votes down tentative wage deal

Unionized workers at Korean steelmaker POSCO on Saturday voted down a tentative wage agreement reached with management that includes a 2.6 percent increase in base pay, union officials said. The vote showed 51.69 percent of the unionized workers opposed the wage agreement, while 48.31 percent approved it, according to the union. The tentative wage deal includes a 2.6 percent hike in base pay, a one-off payment of 6 million won ($4,500) and improved benefits. The union had initially demanded a 7.1 percent increase in base pay, a performance bonus equivalent to 600 percent of base pay, 50 company shares per worker and a holiday bonus equivalent to 200 percent of base pay. "We will probably need to open renegotiations as there were many opposing votes," a union official said. The union and management reached a tentative wage agreement on Oct. 30 after holding about 30 rounds of talks since June. Unionized POSCO workers staged two rounds of partial strikes in September to demand higher wages and bonuses.

Robotaxis are taking over China’s cities. What are they actually like to ride?

My test rides in two of China’s major tech hubs – with Pony.ai in Shenzhen and Baidu’s Apollo Go in Beijing – offered a first-hand experience of how autonomous vehicles...
