Hybrid (HEVs) and plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) can help increase energy security.
New York, NY - April 2, 2018 /MarketersMedia/ —
While many businesspeople today believe the only way to success is to continue growing, creating, and focusing on development rather than sustainability, CEO and President of iPark Bill Lerner focuses heavily on making his company sustainable for years to come, and is implementing to EV charging stations in each of the parking lots to get closer to the goal. Twenty years later and with a new name for a digital era, Lerner has grown iPark into the largest and most technologically advanced privately owned parking garage operator in New York with nearly 150 facilities. The company’s newly gained prominence has allowed for recent partnerships with Tesla Motors, Inc. and Beam Charging, a subsidiary of CarCharging, which have led to the installation of charging stations for hybrid and electric vehicles in over 25 garages, cementing iPark as a pioneer of eco-friendly parking.
“In 2014, the United States imported about 27% of the petroleum it consumed, and transportation was responsible for nearly three quarters of total consumption. With much of the world’s petroleum reserves located in politically volatile countries, the United States is constantly vulnerable to price spikes and supply disruptions,” as reported by Alternative Fuels Data Center. Hybrid (HEVs) and plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) can help increase energy security, improve fuel economy, lower fuel costs, and reduce harmful emissions. These vehicles are capable of using off-board sources of electricity, produced in the U.S. almost strictly from domestic coal, nuclear energy, natural gas, and renewable resources, noted Bill Lerner. In addition, these cars produce zero tailpipe emissions when in all-electric mode.
The next generation fast EV charging stations installed in iPark garages utilize recently patented split rotor generators combined with a 120 horsepower natural gas engine for a green, grid-free charge, Lerner explained. The iPark app will conveniently guide people to the facilities equipped with these stations. Differing from current services that require 360 to 480 three-phase grid power, the next gen fast EV stations create their own electrical power internally, using a quite engine to drive the unique generator, allowing them to always be available, regardless of the status of the grid. With prices per charge as much as 60% lower than traditional charging stations, these advancements allow for a lower cost to both the consumer and the surrounding environment.
Bill Lerner is an American businessman and philanthropist best known for his successes as the CEO of iPark and for the work of his charity, Billy4Kids. Founded by Lerner’s father over 60 years ago, iPark began as a single 25-car lot for veterans returning to work in the city, known then as Imperial Parking Systems. Since Bill Lerner took over as President & CEO in 1997, the company has expanded to nearly 150 facilities, and is currently the largest family owned parking garage operator in New York. In 2013 he co-founded Billy4Kids, a non-profit that provides shoes for under resourced children in developing countries. With over 4,000 pairs of shoes delivered to date, Lerner’s work has earned him the Humanitarian Award at the annual Edeyo Gives Hope Gala, and recognition from St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children for three consecutive years.

The signing of an AI accord by President Trump and tech leaders has done little to quell concerns over the lack of guardrails surrounding artificial intelligence. While Trump says industry officials can self-police, critics say more is needed to make sure AI development doesn’t get out of hand, even as some described it as a...
China has set a five-year goal for the expansion of intelligent computing capacity to drive artificial intelligence (AI) that calls for a more than fourfold increase on what was in place at the end of June this year. To reach the 2030 target while being blocked by the United States from importing the most advanced Western-made AI chips will require innovation, adaptation and the application and coordination of vast resources. Judging by the 177 per cent increase in capacity achieved in the year...
Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp. posted record U.S. sales for September, driven by strong demand for sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and hybrid models, the Hyundai Motor Group affiliates said Friday. Hyundai Motor America sold 77,439 vehicles last month, up 9 percent from a year earlier, marking its highest-ever September sales. Sales of the Palisade SUV surged 52 percent on-year, while the Sonata, Tucson and Santa Fe also posted double-digit growth. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) accounted for 28 percent of Hyundai's total U.S. sales during the month. Kia America also reported its best-ever September sales, with deliveries jumping 18 percent on-year to 77,009 units. The Seltos, Niro, K4, Telluride, Sorento, Carnival, K5 and Sportage were among the models that contributed to the strong monthly performance.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has signed a contract to build an offshore substation for a wind farm in waters off Taean, South Chungcheong Province, as it expands its presence in the offshore wind market. The company announced on Friday that it recently signed a contract with Taean Wind Power to carry out the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning of an offshore substation for the wind farm. Taean Wind Power is a joint venture between Singapore-based renewable energy company Vena Energy, Danish investment and development firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and state-run Korea Western Power. An offshore substation is a key facility that transmits electricity generated by turbines at an offshore wind farm to shore. The offshore substation to be built in Taean will step up the voltage of electricity generated by a 500-megawatt wind farm before transmitting the power to shore. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries secured the project through a series of agreements, signing a front-end engineering design contract in March, followed by a preferred supplier agreement
Genetically modified organism (GMO) components were detected in 99.3 percent of U.S. soybean import cases tested over the past decade, trade data showed Friday, raising calls for Korea to diversify its soybean import sources. According to Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. data submitted to Rep. Song Ok-joo of the Democratic Party of Korea, Korea imported 1.6 million tons of U.S. soybeans between 2017 and September 2026, accounting for 91.5 percent of its total soybean imports during the period. GMO components were detected in 399 of 402 U.S. soybean import cases, or 99.3 percent. Canadian soybeans were imported in 45 shipments totaling 29,469 tons, with GMO components detected in 57.8 percent of the cases. In contrast, no GMO components were detected in soybeans imported from China or Russia. Chinese soybeans totaled 112,124 tons in 18 shipments, accounting for 6.4 percent of total imports, while Russian soybeans totaled 7,870 tons across five shipments. The data came amid recent controversies over GMO detection in soybean-based foods such as tofu, soy milk and fermented soybean pa
Dunamu, the operator of Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, said Friday that it expanded its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered market analytics platform with real-time tools that summarize broad market trends and pinpoint the reasons behind price movements for individual digital assets. Upbit Data Lab, launched in April 2025, is the exchange's analytics platform offering crypto indexes, sector data and blockchain analysis. The new "AI Market Report" is a video of 90 seconds or less that draws on the Upbit composite index, major asset prices, top gainers and losers, and market sentiment indicators, with AI selecting key issues based on price moves and market impact. It is released at 10 a.m. on weekdays on Upbit Data Lab and Upbit's official YouTube channel. A second new service, "Uptrace," tracks price data and related news for individual assets to identify the main factors behind price changes. Users can click diamond-shaped icons on an asset's chart to see the AI analysis and related news for that point in time. Dunamu also reorganized its existing "AI News Briefing" in

For years, companies have treated Google rankings as the front door to online discovery. A new study from Manila-based digital marketing agency Spiralytics suggests that door is no longer the only one that matters. AI has made it much easier for decision-makers to work with information. A company announcement can be summarised in seconds, a long annual report can be condensed, and a chatbot can help compare competitors or explain an unfamiliar industry. For many startup founders, the first attempt to understand the cost of artificial intelligence (AI) begins in the wrong place: the model provider’s pricing page. They calculate the price of input and output tokens, compare one model against another, and try to forecast usage as if AI were a simple utility meter. That approach may […] The post The hidden economics of autonomous AI agents appeared first on e27.
