The 77-year-old retiree from Delaware was awarded $2.6 million after the TFCU failed to properly investigate and correct credit reporting errors.
Wilmington, DE, October 5, 2026 -- A federal jury has awarded $2.6 million to a 77-year-old Delaware retiree after finding that Tower Federal Credit Union (TFCU) failed to properly investigate and permanently correct credit reporting errors that repeatedly resurfaced on her credit reports over a nearly fifteen-year period.

The verdict, returned in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, ranks among the largest non-class-action jury awards under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and marks a trend of high-value verdicts for Robinson’s legal team in 2026.
TFCU repeatedly reported accounts that did not belong to Mildred Robinson, causing unrelated credit information to be associated with her credit file. Despite successfully disputing and removing the accounts multiple times and despite Tower's own records showing that Robinson was not the account holder, the same errors returned to her credit reports year after year.
The case highlighted what Robinson described as years of uncertainty and frustration, repeatedly wondering whether she’d been victimized by identity theft or whether the nightmare would ever end. Yet rather than resolving the issue permanently, each correction was followed by the same inaccurate information returning to her credit reports, forcing her to relive the problem repeatedly with no clear end in sight.
Credit reports can affect a consumer's ability to obtain loans, credit cards, housing, insurance, and other essential financial opportunities, making recurring inaccuracies financially harmful and mentally exhausting.
“What’s the point of having a dispute process if the information is never actually fixed?” said James Ristvedt, Managing Attorney and Trial Counsel at Consumer Justice Law Firm. "The jury's verdict sends a clear message to companies in the industry that consumers shouldn't have to spend years of their lives fighting to keep inaccurate information off their credit reports."
Ristvedt added that the verdict also highlights an often-overlooked reality: credit reporting problems do not stop affecting people after retirement. "Many people assume credit reports matter only when you're young and building credit," Ristvedt said. "But inaccurate reporting can affect consumers at any age."
Robinson was represented by attorneys James Ristvedt and McKenzie Czabaj of Consumer Justice Law Firm.

East Asia’s crypto market is no longer moving as one bloc. New regional data shows a fragmented landscape where South Korea is trading artificial intelligence-linked tokens at scale, Hong Kong is pulling in institutional capital, Japan’s retail users are quietly moving on-chain, and China’s stablecoin activity is expanding despite official restrictions. The region’s overall crypto […] The post East Asia’s crypto market splits as Korea bets on AI tokens and Hong Kong courts institutions appeared first on e27.
Most AI writing about work still treats the technology like an advanced tool. That framing made sense when AI mainly waited for a prompt, returned an answer, and stopped there. But that is no longer the whole picture. In more organisations, AI is starting to look less like software you use and more like a […] The post AI is starting to behave less like a tool and more like a teammate appeared first on e27.

Nearly one in five marketing leaders has already eliminated roles because automation now handles the work. That is the finding behind a new Gartner prediction, which Marketing Week reported this week: by 2030, most high-performing marketing teams will be able to drop the traditional bottom rungs of the corporate ladder. The headline number is 18 […] The post Gartner says AI will kill the entry-level marketing job by 2030. Here’s why that’s the wrong takeaway appeared first on e27.

In 2021, I invested in one of the robotics startups that was solving for real world problems. The idea was to look beyond the screen and make every hardware talking through new robo technology. The artificial intelligence investment story is beginning to move beyond the most obvious winners. For much of the past three years, the market’s attention has centred on graphics processing units (GPUs), high-bandwidth memory and the companies supplying the raw compute needed to train large AI models. That first wave is not over. But according to […] The post AI’s bottleneck economy is taking shape across Southeast Asia’s chip supply chain appeared first on e27.

The most consequential AI launch of the past week was one that never happened. Southeast Asia has become one of the world’s most competitive regions for investment. Global companies are diversifying supply chains beyond China.
