Jacob Frydman Announces Astonishing $180,000 Donation to Jewish Foundation

Real estate developer Jacob Frydman pledged $180,000 to the NCFJE organization at their 76th annual Awards Dinner Sunday night.

New York, NY - April 21, 2018 /MarketersMedia/ —

New York City-based real estate investor and developer Jacob Frydman is proud of his own Jewish heritage, and is extending his hand to those less fortunate by pledging a massive $180,000 starting donation to the NCFJE organization. Frydman was Guest of Honor at the organization's 76th Annual Awards Dinner, which took place at the Edison Hotel Ballroom in Manhattan, and lent enthusiastic support to the organization's work in the Jewish community. The real estate mogul, a frequent guest on major news networks, punctuated his enthusiastic support of the NCFJE with a pledge of $180,000. The room was electrified by Frydman’s announcement and his commitment to charity, philanthropy, and kindness.

In a recorded statement, Jacob Frydman praised the organization's flagship Jewish Released Time Program, which sends hundreds of volunteers across metropolitan New York to teach Jewish public school students. "Find me another organization that mobilizes, literally, an army of young men and women... to engage Jewish children all over metro New York, week after week..." He also praised the Machon LeYahadus, the organization's advanced Jewish Studies program for women, which he called "forward thinking" and "ground breaking”. "The National Committee was decades ahead of the rest of the Jewish world, to recognize that there were young ladies, and many of them... thirsting for that knowledge."

NCFJE Chairman, Rabbi Shea Hecht said: "We really could not be more happy with our relationship with Mr. Frydman. He has shown a real concern for the welfare of the community at large, and is the kind of guy that really wants to help. You would think that someone involved with such massive projects is very removed from the concerns of the community, but Jacob is not like that at all. He is just an incredibly warm and loving person. I'm really impressed with him."

"I’m the kind of guy - I do things right, I do things with impact, or I don’t do them," said Jacob Frydman, "I feel very fortunate to have discovered an organization that shares my approach."

NCFJE was founded in 1941 by the Previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Schneersohn to teach Torah to public school students through the Jewish Released Time Program. The organization is responsible for running 37 separate social, religious and educational programs, including Jewish Summer Camps, TOYS for Hospitalized Children, Food Pantry in Brooklyn, Anti Shmad, ILTSF (formerly known as ILTSE), and Operation Survival. In recent years, the organization has turned its focus upon the economically disadvantaged families in its home community of Crown Heights.

Vital US reservoir OK for now, but shortages are looming

Aug 16, 2018

DENVER — A vital reservoir on the Colorado River will be able to meet the demands of Mexico and the U.S. Southwest for the next 13 months, but a looming shortage could trigger cutbacks as soon as the end of 2019, officials said Wednesday. A forecast from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation echoes previous warnings that a nearly 20-year trend toward a drier regional climate coupled with rising demand could drain so much water from the Lake Mead reservoir that cutbacks would be mandatory. The report increases the pressure on seven U.S. states that rely on the river to finish...

Unhealthy smoky air blankets Northwest

Aug 16, 2018

SEATTLE — Unhealthy smoky air from wildfires is blanketing the Northwest. The National Weather Service says Washington state had the worst air quality in the country Wednesday. In the Washington cities of Chelan and Wenatchee the air quality Wednesday reached the hazardous level, prompting Chelan County officials to distribute masks. The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency says the smoke had reached levels that were unhealthy for everyone in Seattle and nearby areas. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality also said Wednesday that the air quality in Portland and Medford was unhealthy. The weather service says cleaner air will begin pushing...

Spacewalkers install bird trackers, send satellites flying

Aug 16, 2018

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Spacewalking cosmonauts set up an antenna for tracking birds on Earth and sent a series of tiny satellites flying from the International Space Station on Wednesday. Russian Sergey Prokopyev used his gloved right hand to fling four research satellites into space. The first mini satellite safely tumbled away as the space station soared 250 miles above Illinois. By the time the fourth one was on its way 14 minutes later, the station was almost to Spain. Two were the size of a tissue box, while the other two were longer. With that quickly behind them, Prokopyev...

After Alex Jones timeout, Twitter CEO mulls deeper changes

Aug 16, 2018

NEW YORK — A day after Twitter gave right-wing conspiratorialist Alex Jones a weeklong timeout, CEO Jack Dorsey is mulling deeper changes to the social media service that might limit the spread of fake news, misinformation and hate speech. Twitter joined other prominent tech companies in muzzling Jones, the founder of the Infowars site, who has used Twitter and other social outlets to spread false information. Twitter had resisted the move despite public pressure, but the holdout lasted less than two weeks. "They seem to be reacting to the backlash they received when so many other companies in Silicon Valley...

The Latest: Report-CEO rethinking 'core parts' of Twitter

Aug 16, 2018

NEW YORK — The Latest on Twitter's suspension of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones (all times local): 6 p.m. In an interview with The Washington Post, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey says he is rethinking "core parts" of the social media platform. On Tuesday, Twitter restricted right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones for a week, giving him a time-out that is well short of a ban. Dorsey told the Post he's experimenting with features that would address misinformation and "echo chambers" on Twitter. He also acknowledged that with fewer resources than Facebook or Google, Twitter has to make difficult decisions when it comes...
